Teaching the brain when it’s time for sleep — Float Culture, Auckland.

Restless nights, fever dreams and unsatisfactory dozes. We all know what it feels like to get a bad night's rest — some of us too well, for far too many nights in a row. A lack of sleep builds up. It wears on your body, your mind and your relationships. As one of the fundamental necessities of human existence, there's not an area of life where bad sleep doesn't create negative effects.

Have you tried everything? Implemented a better habit for a few days, only to be disappointed by the results — then dropped it and slid back into old patterns, kicking yourself for a lack of willpower, or telling yourself it's just not possible? I'm here to tell you it is possible, and that willpower has very little to do with it.

Modern cognitive behavioural therapy for sleep consists mainly of a personalised coaching framework designed to make it absolutely clear to the brain when it's time for sleep, by changing your habits and routines. The Better Sleep Program combines that very same approach with the deeply calming, de-stressing, pain-reducing, hormone-balancing effects of floatation.

So what is floatation?

Floatation involves lying in a super-saturated Epsom-salt solution about 30cm deep, heated to skin temperature (around 35.5°C). Once you're settled, it's almost impossible to tell which parts of your body are in the water and which aren't. The high density makes you feel completely weightless, letting every muscle fully relax, while the pod blocks out all external distractions — sights, sounds, tactile sensations and gravity. It's one of the most effective tools available for reducing stress, easing physical discomfort and promoting overall wellbeing.

What's in the program?

The Better Sleep Program runs for two weeks and includes:

What you can expect

"Habits? Routines? This sounds hard and boring," you may be thinking. No need to worry. The program is designed to slot into an already busy lifestyle, requiring only 20–30 minutes a day as you wind down before bed — all rewarded by four blissfully quiet sessions in the float tank. Our aim isn't to hand you tasks, but to help you create more fruitful ways to be: changes you already knew about and wanted to make, but until now didn't have a strong enough reason why.

Think about why you want better sleep — then how ready you are to create a new reality for yourself.

Perhaps it's mental clarity, deeper connection with others, better performance at work, or simply feeling physically great again. If you're interested in floatation and the Better Sleep Program, get in touch or explore our packages.
